  • What is OnStar eNav?

    OnStar eNav allows you to find a destination online at MapQuest.com and send it directly to your vehicle’s Turn-by-Turn Navigation system. Simply map one of more than 16 million destinations online and hit the “Send to OnStar” link. The voice-guided, turn-by-turn directions to your destination will be waiting the next time you are on the road. Just push the phone button and say "Virtual Advisor."

  • What is the difference between OnStar eNav and Turn-by-Turn Navigation?

    OnStar eNav is an enhancement to Turn-by-Turn Navigation. eNav allows you to find a destination online at MapQuest.com and send it to your vehicle, where driving directions will be waiting when you push the phone button and say "Virtual Advisor." OnStar Turn-by-Turn Navigation is a service accessed by pushing your Onstar blue button to speak to a live OnStar Advisor who can help you find your destination and send automated directions to your vehicle.

  • How does OnStar eNav work?

    OnStar subscribers can simply visit MapQuest.com to find their destination and click the "Send to OnStar" link that appears in the dropdown menu above their maps or directions results to send it directly to their vehicle. You will need to enter your account number and zip code so we can send the directions to the right vehicle. When ready to travel, push the phone button, say "Virtual Advisor" and follow the voice prompts to retrieve your saved destination’s directions.

  • What is the cost of OnStar eNav?

    OnStar eNav is available at no additional cost to all OnStar subscribers with an active Directions & Connections Plan and a Turn-by-Turn Navigation–capable vehicle. Please check with OnStar for vehicle eligibility and plan pricing.

  • I have the Safe & Sound Plan. Can I use OnStar eNav?

    OnStar eNav is available to subscribers with the Directions & Connections Plan and a Turn-by-Turn–eligible vehicle. Safe & Sound subscribers have access to a trial of Turn-by-Turn Navigation, but it cannot be used with OnStar eNav. (To use the Turn-by-Turn Navigation trial, simply press your Onstar blue button and ask an Advisor for directions to the destination of your choice.) Upgrade to Directions & Connections for only $9.95/month plus tax, and get unlimited Turn-by-Turn Navigation with OnStar eNav.

  • Once I upgrade to Directions & Connections, how soon can I use OnStar eNav?

    Once you upgrade your service plan, it may take up to 24 hours before OnStar eNav is available. However, you can receive Turn-by-Turn Navigation service from a live OnStar Advisor within about 45 minutes.

  • I have multiple vehicles on my OnStar account; can I use OnStar eNav on all of them?

    Yes, you may use OnStar eNav on any of these vehicles. To use OnStar eNav, the vehicle will need an active Directions & Connection Plan and must be Turn-by-Turn Navigation–capable. The downloaded directions will automatically be sent to all eligible vehicles on your account (up to a total of five vehicles). When you log in to send destinations to your vehicles, you will be prompted to upgrade the service level for any vehicle that does not have a Directions & Connections Plan. If you do not receive this prompt, log in again and you should see the prompt.

  • Does the vehicle require special features to be able to use OnStar eNav?

    The vehicle must be OnStar Turn-by-Turn Navigation–capable and have an active OnStar Directions & Connections Plan to use OnStar eNav.

  • How do I find the “Send to OnStar” link?

    Once you locate your destination on MapQuest.com, look for the “Send to OnStar” link in the dropdown menu in your maps or directions results. Simply click the link next to the destination you wish to send to your vehicle.

  • How do I log in to OnStar eNav on MapQuest.com?

    To log in, you will need your OnStar account number and ZIP code. Find your account number on your OnStar membership card or in your OnStar Vehicle Diagnostics email. Or, just push your Onstar blue button in your vehicle or call 1.888.4.ONSTAR (1.888.466.7827).

  • How can I find out my account number?

  • Will I have to use my Hands-Free Calling minutes to connect to eNav?

    No, you will not need to use Hands-Free Calling minutes to connect to eNav.

  • How do I reach an Advisor if I am having difficulty with OnStar eNav?

    You can always push the Onstar blue button in your vehicle or call 1.888.4ONSTAR to talk to an Advisor. Please note that your Advisor is unable to view your saved eNav destinations, so you will need to provide that information.

  • How can I determine the distance to my destination?

    On MapQuest.com, you can determine distance and estimated drive time if both an origin and destination are entered. Otherwise, the first driving instruction delivered in your vehicle will include the distance to your destination based on your vehicle’s current location. You can also determine your distance at any time by pressing the phone button and saying “Get my destination.”

  • Can I plan a trip with multiple stops?

    Yes. You can save up to five destinations in your vehicle but they must be retrieved individually. Once you have reached your first destination, you can retrieve your next desired destination by pressing the phone button, saying "Virtual Advisor" and following the prompts.

  • Why don’t I have to input my trip origin when I send destinations from MapQuest.com?

    Sending a destination to your vehicle means that you can retrieve it whenever you want. When you retrieve your saved destination(s), the system will automatically calculate the fastest route based on your vehicle’s current location.

  • Can I choose different route options, such as avoiding toll roads or highways?

    While these options are available on MapQuest.com, they are not part of OnStar eNav. If you do select such an option, eNav will simply provide the most direct route based on the current location of your vehicle.

  • Why do I get the message “This destination is not routable?”

    At this time, OnStar eNav supports routing only to points of interest that contain complete addresses; please select a more precise destination and resend. If you are searching for a point of interest and multiple items appear in the list, select the one with a complete address.

  • How long does it take for directions to be downloaded to my vehicle?

    After you visit MapQuest.com and send your destination to OnStar, it is automatically available from your vehicle. Just press the phone button, say “Virtual Advisor” and follow the voice prompts to request your destination. Directions are downloaded in the same way as traditional OnStar Turn-by-Turn Navigation routing.

  • How do I retrieve my destination from my vehicle?

    Press the phone button and say “Virtual Advisor.” Then, simply follow the voice prompts that guide you through the retrieval of your saved destination. Once you select your destination, your directions will be downloaded to your vehicle.

  • I tried to retrieve my destination in my vehicle and was unsuccessful. The system told me to try again later. Why did this happen?

    Depending on your vehicle’s location when you attempt to retrieve your destination, OnStar may have difficulty connecting due to interference from tall buildings or covered structures, such as parking garages. This connection difficulty should pass shortly. Please continue driving and, when it is safe to do so, attempt to retrieve your destination again in a few minutes. Of course, you can always press your Onstar blue button and ask an Advisor to provide spoken or Turn-by-Turn driving directions to your destination.

  • Why did my vehicle say "I'm sorry, I can’t provide a route to that location?"

    MapQuest.com may infrequently allow a place to be entered that cannot be retrieved from your vehicle. If this happens, you can always press your Onstar blue button and ask an Advisor to provide spoken or Turn-by-Turn driving directions to your destination.

  • Why don't I get a map of my route with OnStar eNav like I see on MaqQuest.com?

    OnStar eNav uses your vehicle's current location as the origin of the trip. When you retrieve the directions in your vehicle, OnStar automatically calculates the best route from that location. You can enter an origin at MapQuest.com, but the map shown online may differ from the directions delivered to your vehicle, depending on your vehicle’s location.

  • How can I preview my downloaded route?

    Once you've sent your destination through OnStar eNav at MapQuest.com, simply press your phone button, say “Route Preview” and follow the voice-guided prompts.

  • Can I ask an Advisor to retrieve my destination, instead of using the voice commands?

    No. Advisors cannot view your saved destinations, so you will need to provide your destination to them. Remember, you can always push your Onstar blue button to talk to a live Advisor to get Turn-by-Turn Navigation driving directions to a destination.

  • Why is the system not recognizing my destination names?

    If you are experiencing difficulties retrieving your destinations by name, you may use the list function and indicate the destination you want simply by saying "That one."

  • How do I edit or delete my saved destinations?

    IYou can send up to five destinations to your vehicle. Once you have reached the five destination limit and you try to save another destination, you will be prompted to delete a destination before proceeding. You can edit and delete your saved destinations each time you send a new destination to your vehicle from MapQuest.com.

  • How do I delete my saved destinations while in my vehicle?

    You cannot delete your saved destinations from your vehicle. Destinations can only be edited or deleted each time you send a new destination to your vehicle using OnStar eNav at MapQuest.com.

  • How do I cancel a route that I have downloaded?

    To cancel a route that you have downloaded to your vehicle, simply press your phone button and say "Cancel route."
