When does the first-year OnStar subscription begin for owners of a new vehicle?

Your first-year subscription starts when you take delivery of your new OnStar-equipped vehicle.

How do I activate the OnStar system in my new vehicle?

Every new OnStar-equipped vehicle includes a prepaid, one-year OnStar service plan with Automatic Notification of Air Bag Deployment, Emergency Services, and Stolen Vehicle Assistance activated when you take delivery from the dealer. The remaining services are typically activated automatically within 3 to 5 business days after you take delivery.For other make and model-years, including pre-owned vehicles, OnStar can be activated by pushing the blue OnStar button inside the vehicle.
