Mileage Information

Based on your mileage reading from your odometer, OnStar Vehicle Diagnostics will alert you when maintenance issues like the following are necessary:
  • First tire rotation for most vehicles — critical to vehicle safety and extending the lifespan of your tires
  • Post 25,000-mile services — additional maintenance items to be performed once you have driven over 25,000 miles
See the status alert symbols and mileage readings below for the suggested action you should take, which might include inspecting the fuel system for damage, changing the automatic transmission fluid and filter or replacing spark plugs.

Status: Diagnostic: Action:
0–5,000 miles We will notify you when it's time for scheduled maintenance on your vehicle.
5,000–7,000 miles If you have not already done so, your first tire rotation is needed.

The first tire rotation is critical to establish a uniform tire wear pattern to prevent irregular tire wear and premature tire placement.
  • We recommend that you rotate your tires during the first 5,000-8,000 miles and every 5,000-8,000 miles afterward.
  • Some vehicles (such as the Corvette, Cadillac XLR Roadster, Cadillac SRX, Cadillac CTS-V, Cadillac STS, Pontiac Grand Prix GXP) may have unique rotation patterns and schedules, please refer to your vehicle's owner manual for specific information.
  • Have your GM Dealer inspect your tires for uneven wear or damage.
  • Check your spare tire for correct air pressure. Check all tires, including the spare (if equipped), for correct air pressure.
  • Your GM Dealer knows the best tires for your GM vehicle.
