When you’re an OnStar Member, a live person is ready to help you, 24 hours a day, seven days a week — no automated operators or busy signals included. To get our Advisors on the line, you just have to push one of two buttons: red or blue.

Push the red Emergency button if you’re in an emergency situation, such as:

  • You or someone nearby requires medical assistance.
  • You’re in a dangerous situation that requires help from the police.
  • You’re caught in severe weather and need help finding your way out of the storm.

Push the blue OnStar button if you need help in a non-emergency situation, such as:

  • You’re lost and need directions.
  • Your car broke down on the side of the road and you need Roadside Assistance.*13
  • You want to know where to find the closest restaurant or coffee shop.
  • You want to check the status of your car. (OnStar can conduct an On-Demand Diagnostics*17 check of your vehicle’s key operating systems.)*2
  • You need to make adjustments to your OnStar or Connected Services plan, like purchasing data or signing up for Add-Ons.

When you push the red Emergency button, you’ll activate a priority connection to an OnStar Emergency Certified Advisor*41 who can offer verbal medical assistance. These specially trained Advisors answer about 3,200 emergency calls from OnStar Members daily and can assist you while they send first responders to your location.

When you push the blue OnStar button, you’ll be connected to an OnStar Advisor, who is part of a team that responds to around 245,000 calls from OnStar Members every day. Whether providing turn-by-turn directions*16 or contacting the closest provider to get you Roadside Assistance, an OnStar Advisor is just a button-push away.
