When the work is done, OnStar helps Marco C. reset on his ride home.
A lot of people love Super Cruise®
“I named it,” he says of Super Cruise. “Donald. Donald Denali.”
The last name honors his truck, a 2024 GMC Sierra 1500 Denali Ultimate. He chose “Donald” because it sounded nice. “My chauffeur,” he jokes. He’s probably earned one.

“It took five minutes to give my confidence over to the car. I was white-knuckling without touching the steering wheel, and within five minutes, I felt so comfortable.”

For 32 years, Marco worked two full-time jobs. He was a social studies teacher, a basketball coach and spent seven years as an assistant principal. He retired in 2021. For 43 years and counting, he has also worked at one of Pittsburgh’s finest restaurants. He began washing dishes. Today, he’s the general manager.

“I use Super Cruise as soon as I get on the highway and it’s available,” Marco says.

“On my 30-minute ride home from the restaurant, I look for some quiet time to unwind and decompress,” Marco says.

“I’m still aware and alert as I should be,” he says. “But it helps me kind of relax.”

“We’re taking our family vacation to Myrtle Beach. So as soon as I get into our truck, I’ll simply say, ‘Hey Google, navigate to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.’ And from there it’s an easy trip.”

“Google built-in is simple to use and it does just about everything,” Marco says.

“My wife uses the Wi-Fi,” Marco says. “She likes to check her emails or play games.”
“If anybody knows anything about the restaurant life, it's always fast-paced,” Marco says. “It's hectic. So, on my 30-minute ride home from the restaurant, I look for some quiet time to unwind, decompress, get rid of all that anxiety and angst from all the hustle and bustle of the restaurant.”
And that’s when Donald (a.k.a. Super Cruise) takes the wheel.
Marco is quick to note that he remains ever alert, checking his mirrors and keeping his hands near the wheel, but he quickly learned to trust Super Cruise, which can handle most of his drive from the restaurant in Pittsburgh to home in Zelienople, Pennsylvania.
“I’m able to let go a little bit and mentally get rid of some of that stress of driving so I can focus on getting to where I need to be — in a happy place at home,” he says.

Marco says he’s not much of a tech guy, so he didn’t think Google built-in* would be for him,
but he set it up and discovered how easy it is to go hands-free using voice commands to pull up the radio station he wants, set the cabin temperature, and get directions to wherever he’s going.
“It's amazing,” he says. “It's simple to use, and now that I'm getting more used to it, it's exciting to see what more it can do as the weeks and months and years go on with my truck.”
