We strongly recommend that only professional installers who have special training and experience in the installation of OnStar FMV set up and install this product. Problems or damage to the device caused by improper installation are not covered by warranty.

16. What if I don't want the FMV mirror installed at the same retailer from whom I purchased it?

17. Is there an option to have my dealer install it?

A very limited number of dealers have signed up to sell and install the mirror. Those who have will show up in the retailer search. Click here to find your local retailer.

You can also purchase OnStar FMV and/or an InstallCard online from Crutchfield. The InstallerNet network of installers may include some dealers in your area that may not have signed up to sell the OnStar FMV mirror.

You also have the option of purchasing an OnStar FMV Mounting Kit in lieu of an InstallCard from Crutchfield. This will enable installation at dealers who may not be part of the InstallerNet network.

19. How is the mirror installed in my vehicle?

The OnStar FMV mirror can be installed by a trained installer at your local retailer in 5 easy steps.

Step 3: Adhesive is applied.

Step 4: OnStar FMV mirror is attached to mount.

Step 5: Power is connected to the OnStar FMV mirror.

20. How will the installation of the mirror affect my vehicle warranty?

The Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act makes it illegal for companies to void your warranty or deny coverage under the warranty simply because you used an aftermarket or recycled part. If it turns out that the aftermarket or recycled part was itself defective or wasn't installed correctly, and it causes damage to another part that is covered under the warranty, the manufacturer or dealer has the right to deny coverage for that part and charge you for any repairs. The FTC says the manufacturer or dealer must show that the aftermarket or recycled part caused the need for repairs before denying warranty coverage. The warranty would still be in effect for other parts of your car.

With regard to the warranty of the mirror itself, OnStar FMV has received the Good Housekeeping Seal. The Seal provides OnStar FMV customers with an added reassurance. According to the Good Housekeeping Consumers' Refund or Replacement Policy, if a product that bears the Seal proves to be defective within two years of purchase, Good Housekeeping will replace or repair the product, or refund the purchase price.
