’Tis the season to be a Good Samaritan
One of the best ways to celebrate the season of giving is to pay forward the kindness others have shown us. In other words, it’s a great time to be a Good Samaritan and lend a helping hand to others.
If you’re an OnStar
Unsafe road conditions
Whether it’s slick roads or vision-impairing fog, extreme weather can come when you least expect it. So if you’re on the road and encounter dangerous conditions that could put other drivers at risk, be sure to alert an Advisor who can help take action to let authorities know.
If someone slips, say something
While for some a fall may only be a minor inconvenience, for others it can result in a severe injury, like a broken bone. As an OnStar Member, you can easily report a fall so that help arrives to them sooner rather than later.
Vehicles stuck in snow
Anyone familiar with driving in snow knows the frustration of getting stuck. If you see someone stuck in the snow, you can push your blue OnStar button and report it so they get help. You may never know the full impact that your Good Samaritan calls have on the lives of others, but one thing’s for certain: You can help make the roads safer.
Car break-ins
Recently purchased gifts and goodies stowed away in vehicles can attract prying eyes — and sometimes thieves. If you see what looks like someone breaking into a vehicle, remember to push your red Emergency button in your vehicle or on the OnStar Guardian® app
Crashes and accidents
The holiday season is one of the busiest times of the year for travel. From vibrant city districts to the calm of the countryside, roads across the country are notoriously busy this time of year — and, depending on the climate of where you live, extremely slippery due to snow and ice. If you see a crash, you can report the incident the moment you see it so help arrives as quickly as possible.
Missing pets
Anyone who’s lost a pet can relate to the stress of tracking them down. When they go missing during the chilling cold of winter, that stress is cranked up a notch. So if you spot a loose dog or a cat roaming an alley, be sure to contact OnStar and report it. It only takes a few minutes to alert an Advisor, but the joy the owner will feel once reunited with their furry friend can last throughout the holidays and beyond.
Road rage incidents
During the hustle and bustle of the holidays, the possibility of encountering a driver with road rage is always present. What may begin as a minor frustration can quickly evolve into aggressive and sometimes violent outlashes, so it’s best to report these situations as quickly as possible by contacting OnStar when you see them unfolding.
The more Good Samaritans, the better
Finally, don’t forget to share the gift of OnStar with the most important people in your life — your family. If you have the Guardian app downloaded on your smartphone, you can share its safety services — like Emergency Services and Roadside Assistance
Make the holiday season merry for everyone by lending a hand when you see someone needs one — including using OnStar to provide emergency help to others. You’ll feel better and so will they!
