Let us show you around.
Your OnStar Safety & Security Plan* can give you added peace of mind when you’re out on the road. But what’s included with your service plan, and how do you use OnStar when you need it? Here’s what you need to know.
Your OnStar Advisor
Who It Is: A specially trained professional who can be available to help at the push of a button.
How to Contact Them: You can push the blue OnStar button in a non-crisis situation to be connected to someone ready to help 24/7. If you are in an emergency, you can push the red Emergency button for a priority connection to an Emergency Advisor.*
Automatic Crash Response
What It Is: Built-in sensors can automatically alert OnStar if you’re in a crash,* so an Advisor can locate your vehicle and notify First Responders of your vehicle’s location.
How to Use It: You don’t need to do a thing. If you’re in a crash, the vehicle can alert an Advisor to connect to your vehicle and direct help to your location — even if you can’t ask for it yourself.
What It Is: You’ll have a priority connection to an Emergency Advisor* who can contact emergency service providers and provide assistance until help arrives.
How to Use It: Push the red Emergency button* if you experience a medical emergency or require critical assistance. You can also push the red Emergency button to be a Good Samaritan if you see someone else who needs help.
What It Is: If you’re stranded, have a flat tire or need a tow, an OnStar Advisor can contact a local service provider to help get you the help you need.*
How to Use It: Push the blue OnStar button and tell the Advisor what’s happened. They can help find the closest available service provider.
What It Is: If you’re caught in a natural disaster or severe weather, this service provides you with emergency resources, such as special routing assistance and help finding shelter.*
How to Use It: Push the blue OnStar button and tell the Advisor your situation. They can help you find a route away from danger, locate the nearest shelter or hotel, and connect with family members to let them know you’re OK, and find available resources like food and water.
Stolen Vehicle Assistance
What It Is: If your vehicle is stolen, OnStar can help find the vehicle* and work with authorities to slow it down and stop it when conditions are safe.
How to Use It: Once you’ve filed a police report, contact OnStar at 1.888.4ONSTAR (1.888.466.7827). An Advisor can work with authorities to help locate and potentially recover your vehicle. Want to know more? Find out how OnStar can give you a leg up on thieves.
What It Is: You can have directions downloaded* right to your vehicle. An automated voice will guide you to your destination and call out every turn.
How to Use It: Push your Push-To-Talk button and ask for directions. The interactive voice assistant will ask you for your destination and send
Turn-by-Turn directions right to your vehicle, or you can search for directions in your vehicle mobile app* and send them to your vehicle’s in-dash navigation system (if equipped).
Blue is for nonemergencies, while red is for emergency situations. You can find specific examples here.
