OnStar Advisor connects with a couple after a bear slams into their vehicle

Bernadette Holzer and her husband spend a lot of time on the road visiting family in Pittsburgh. One of those drives became more memorable than normal, though, after the couple ran into a bear.
Bernadette and her husband were driving on a road heading to their rural town of Tionesta, Pennsylvania, when the bear came charging down a hill from the woods and slammed right into their Chevrolet Equinox.
“He looked almost like a full-size bear,” Bernadette says.

“As soon as the bear hit, the Advisor was on,” Bernadette says. “She asked if we were bleeding. I told her we were OK and that a bear just ran into our car. She kept us calm. The police and ambulance came. She was very, very good at what she was doing.”
Thankfully, Bernadette and her husband walked away from the accident with no injuries. However, they did have quite a story to share.
“Our friends couldn’t believe it happened,” Bernadette says. “It’s not something that happens too often, if ever. It even made the local paper and became a little bit of a joke among our friends.”
As for the bear? Bernadette says he shot back into the woods, seemingly unscathed from the incident.
“We had to replace the whole front of the car. He smashed right into the radiator.”
