What cellular network does OnStar rely on for coverage?
OnStar partners with multiple wireless carriers to provide coverage across the nation.
I used to be able to receive OnStar service in my area and am now unable to connect. Why is this?
OnStar relies on our wireless carrier partnerships and their cellular networks to provide coverage to our customers. Because of this, some vehicles and areas may be impacted by a loss of service, while others may benefit from expanded service.
What factors can impact my coverage?
There are cellular network limitations, including lack of coverage due to zoning issues with cellular towers, network interference, area population, and gaps in network coverage. There are also external factors, such as vehicle enclosures like parking structures or garages, construction, foliage, terrain, and building obstructions.
What is OnStar doing to help ensure its customers receive the best possible coverage?
Through our partnership, our wireless carriers are committed to network improvements. They constantly monitor and optimize their networks to deliver the best possible wireless service.
