What is OnStar?

OnStar is an in-vehicle safety and security system designed to help protect you and your family and provide peace of mind on the road. And now with the OnStar Guardian™ app, you can get key OnStar safety services in and out of any vehicle.

Which vehicles have OnStar?

OnStar is available in Chevrolet, Buick, GMC and Cadillac vehicles. Some services may not be available in all vehicles.

I just purchased a new Cadillac vehicle. What’s included in my trial?

New vehicle purchases after May 1 from model year 2018 include 1 year of OnStar Safety & Security coverage and a trial of Cadillac Connected Services, which includes 1 year of Connected Navigation (if equipped), 6 months of the Remote Access Plan, and 3 GB or 3 months of data (whichever comes first). Cadillac Connected Access includes up to 10 years of standard connectivity which enables services such as Vehicle Diagnostics, Dealer Maintenance Notification and Cadillac Smart Driver. If you select a monthly plan within 60 days of vehicle delivery, you will also receive up to 6 months of that plan at no additional charge.

 

New vehicle purchases from model year 2022 include 6 months of OnStar Safety & Security coverage and a trial of Cadillac Connected Services, which includes 6 months of Connected Navigation (if equipped), 6 months of the Remote Access Plan, and 3 GB or 3 months of data (whichever comes first). Cadillac Connected Access includes up to 10 years of standard connectivity which enables services such as Vehicle Diagnostics, Dealer Maintenance Notification and Cadillac Smart Driver. If you select a monthly plan within 60 days of vehicle delivery, you can also receive up to 2 months of the plan you select at no additional charge, or significant savings on the plan you choose, depending on the plan.

I just purchased a pre-owned Cadillac vehicle. What’s included in my trial?

Pre-owned Cadillac vehicles from model year 2015 or newer include 1 month of OnStar Safety & Security coverage and a 1-month trial of Cadillac Connected Services  which includes navigation services and the Remote Access Plan and 3 GB or 1 month of data (whichever comes first). You will also receive Cadillac Connected Access with up to 5 years of standard connectivity, which enables services such as Vehicle Diagnostics, Dealer Maintenance Notification and Cadillac Smart Driver.

 

OnStar-equipped Cadillac vehicles from 2011 to 2014 include 1 month of OnStar Safety & Security coverage, a 1-month trial of Cadillac Connected Services that includes navigation services and the Remote Access Plan, and Cadillac Connected Access with 1 year of standard connectivity, which enables services such as Vehicle Diagnostics and Dealer Maintenance Notification.

How much does OnStar cost?

The OnStar Safety & Security Plan is available for $29.99 a month. Plus any applicable taxes & fees. 

How do I manage my account?

You can manage your account and connected services online by visiting your Cadillac account, pushing your blue OnStar button in your vehicle and speaking with an Advisor, or calling 1.888.4ONSTAR (1.888.466.7827).

How do I activate or renew my account?

You can visit your Cadillac account to start the activation process, or get help from an Advisor by pushing your blue OnStar button in your vehicle or calling 1.888.4ONSTAR (1.888.466.7827). You can activate or change services anytime, and if you are enrolled in a trial plan, your paid OnStar service plan will be added to the time remaining in that plan.

How do I cancel my account?

If at any time you wish to cancel your OnStar service, push your blue OnStar button to speak with an Advisor or call 1.888.4ONSTAR (1.888.466.7827). If you let your service plan expire or choose to cancel it, your OnStar system will be deactivated. All services — including Automatic Crash Response and Emergency Services — will be shut off. Your vehicle won’t be able to connect with us for help, even in a crash.

Can I transfer an account?

You may transfer your OnStar service plan if:

  • You have an active, customer-paid OnStar service plan and account.
  • The primary driver does not change.
  • The new vehicle is equipped with OnStar hardware.

 

If you still own the vehicle listed on your service plan, the plan cannot be switched to a different driver. Any service plan included with your vehicle purchase remains with the vehicle if it is sold or traded in with an active OnStar trial.

The OnStar Safety & Security Plan includes these services:

  • Automatic Crash Response with Injury Severity Prediction
  • Emergency Services, including a priority connection to an OnStar Emergency-Certified Advisor
  • Crisis Assist
  • Stolen Vehicle Assistance, including Remote Ignition Block,™ Stolen Vehicle Slowdown® (if capable) and Theft Alarm Notification
  • Turn-by-Turn Navigation with Destination Download (if available)
  • Roadside Assistance
  • OnStar Guardian app
